GS1 Company Prefix

The GS1 Company Prefix is part of the GS1 System Identification number consisting of a GS1 Prefix and a Company Number, both of which are allocated by GS1 Member Organizations. GS1 Member Organizations assign GS1 Company Prefixes to entities that administer the allocation of GS1 System Identification numbers. These entities may be, for example, commercial companies, not for profit organizations, governmental agencies, and business units within organizations.

In the case of the Philippines, the GS1 Prefix is 480 and GS1 Philippines, the only body in the Philippines authorized to issue GS1 company prefix, assigns the company number to an entity in accordance with the type of membership subscription. The company number is a variable string of numerical digits, ranging from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 7. The GS1 Company Prefix allocated by GS1 Philippines has the form 480N1 N1 N2 . . . Ni (4 ≤ i ≤ 7).
